We are currently seeking a Localization Engineer to support our Language Solutions, technical team.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
A Localization Engineer within MGPS Delivery Operations is responsible for supporting natural language processing (NLP) and Data-for-AI engineering production for both Commercial and Secure delivery chains.
Essential Functions:
Production Simultaneously manage multiple engineering projects of mid-level complexity.
Perform technology solutions development and localization/data-for-AI engineering tasks for assigned projects, including (as applicable):
Perform testing and monitoring activities, analyze reports, and take specific actions.
Fine-tune internal system functions.
Plan and guide small to mid-size projects.
Provide data on estimates, tasks, and schedules.
Maintain and provide system software documentation.
Parse, pre- and post-process localizable content.
Generate, maintain and optimize training corpora for custom AI model training.
Generate and maintain clients Translation Memories and Terminology Databases, following TM maintenance best practices.
Perform Engineering/Functional QA.
Track assignments and progress of action items and provide status reports as needed to Project Managers and Senior Managers.
Use critical thinking to proactively identify and analyze issues/potential issues affecting quality and scope, and communicate said issues to Senior Managers and Project Managers.
Provide constructive feedback on how to improve technology-related processes to increase business unit profitability.
Take action to prevent or mitigate time delays or increased costs and communicate these actions via status reports or other acceptable methods.
Perform a variety of tasks within the MS Office environment (Word, Excel, Project, etc.
) and have an advanced understanding of these tools.
Have advanced knowledge of software development tools and environments, software localization tools, Computer-Aided Translation and Global Content Management tools and their use, NLP and Data-for-AI methods and technologies.
Teamwork Attend internal team meetings.
Attend a set amount of training courses (mandatory and elective) annually.
Work with Project Management and other support services groups (QC, DTP, Studio, etc.
) within the delivery team.
Projects and proposals may require employees to be flexible and work after hours or weekends.
Customer Focus Deliver finalized localization/software engineering project components to the Project Manager in the established format and within the established timeframe and budget.
Client contact may be expected at this level, depending on project/program requirements.
Compliance Ensure compliance with MGPS Delivery Operations Quality Control procedures.
Ensure compliance with MGPS Delivery Operations Federal Compliance Program.
Cost Control Maintain 80% target utilization consistently.
Update timesheets daily.
Report per project hours as requested to Senior Management.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Bias toward action and initiative to learn and master specific tasks or projects.
Ability to support software development, localization engineering, natural language processing (NLP), and Data-for-AI engineering.
Localization software skills a plus.
Mid-level understanding of software and web development concepts and environments.
Mid-level understanding of AI technologies and concepts a plus.
Knowledge of Globalization, Internationalization and Localization concepts and trends a plus.
Formal knowledge of a foreign language a plus.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work with emerging technology and grasp new concepts quickly.
BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
Minimum 5-10 years of experience in Language Technology field or minimum 2 years in AI/software/web development field.

Adobe CC (Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), RoboHelp, ABBYY FineReader OCR, Microsoft Translator/Custom Translator NMT, Google Translate/AutoML NMT, Amazon Translate/Active Custom Translation.
