Pharmacy Billing Specialist
Job DescriptionThe pharmacy billing specialist is the primary liaison between pharmacy, insurance and doctor's offices.
Contacts insurance companies to obtain correct eligibility information, to perform benefit investigations and to assist in prior authorizations and /or appeal status.
Helps patients with copay assistance enrollment process and answers patient insurance related questions.
Performs duties of pharmacy technician.
Assist department with handling prior authorizations.

RequirementsAt least 3 years experience as a pharmacy technician and 1 year working as a billing specialist.
High School diploma or equivalentCompletion of a pharmacy technician programRegistration by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy;Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification BoardExperience in communicating both verbally (on phone, one-on-one, to groups) and in writing (emails, letters, reports, presentations) to various audiences (work group, team, company management, prospective acquisitions, external clients).
Familiar and experience with clinical and billing terminology.
Experience in providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Experience in entering data into databases (ex:
MS Access).

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
