The Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) at Inova Fairfax Hospital is an 18 bed adult unit.
Our medical population includes but is not limited to:
GI bleeding, COPD, sepsis and septic shock.
Our post operative surgical population includes:
esphagogastrectomy, AAA repair, numerous revascularization surgeries and abdominal surgery.
We also provide care to liver, liver/pancreas transplant and obstetrical emergency patients.
The MSICU Highlights:
18 private rooms (all have patient lifts), EpicCare electronic medical record technology for improved care and safety, Geriatric-sensitive color schemes and patterns for patient and visitor safety, Patient/Family zones in patient rooms to promote involvement, privacy and comfort, Larger patient room windows allowing more natural light to promote healing, 360-degree patient access in critical care rooms for urgent in-room procedures, Free Wi-Fi connectivity throughout hospital for convenience.
Care needs of our patients may include, but is not limited to patients requiring:
Invasive hemodynamic and/or cardiac monitoring Intubation and mechanical ventilation Intravenous administration of vasoactive medications Conduction of medical and nursing research studies Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) Schedule:
Days Nights/Rotation available RequirementsA maximum of 6 months of Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting.
This position is strictly for New Graduate nurses.
Education:
BSN or MSN or if Associates Degree RN- Within 6 months of start date meet with nurse leader- Identify which Accredited School the employee plans to attend- Submit a review of transcript from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses- Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date- Complete BSN within 24 months of start dateBLS for Healthcare Provider Certification requiredRN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RNProficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skillsExceptional interpersonal skill and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards othersProficient computer skills required.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
